Cloud based Web Application

Background

Immersive Interactive Ltd is the leading provider of interactive immersive environments with over 5 years of experience and a track record of setting the standards for the industry. Immersive's technology provides a flexible and engaging learning platform for education, sensory-rooms, healthcare, training and simulation. The spaces combine high quality video, images, audio and interactive elements to create powerful learning experiences.  They can be used for a range of subjects and learning styles.  Easy-to-use software and a template-based system enables educators to continually adapt and create new scenarios.

Requirement

Immersive interactive has a growing network of locations using our software and creating content. In order to fully service and grow this network we require a web-application and cloud-based service infrastructure.  Currently content is edited and distributed offline.

Note: Source code and other intellectual property developed for this project needs to be transferred into the business so that further and related development could be done in-house. However, it is highly likely that there will be further development work expanding on the current project for the selected supplier.

The software should enable:

Immersive to distribute content and assets more easily

Users to discover and download new content

Immersive to manage subscriptions to the service

Users to create and edit content on all modern platforms

            Users to share content

In practice this will mean:

Online CATALOGUE / app store

Ability to browse and search lists of content and assets organised around tags and categories. Rate and comment on content. Allow immersive to add organisations and allow users to register on the site and login.

Online editor

A Simple to use editing interface enabling new content to be created from a selection of templates and customised using familiar forms and controls. Add text, images, sounds and videos. Integration with our immersive’s WebGL previews and editors. Add tags, description, preview images etc. Editing interface is dynamic depending on the template selected.

API to communicate with desktop clients

Access to content and content lists. Sync content to and from desktop client in an efficient manner.

Desktop Client

An (html) interface to select content on an immersive system. Allow users to search for content, filter by tag and so on. Can created and download playlists. Users can download new content from the cloud.

Skill-sets

The chosen supplier should be able to design a well-structured solution and deliver clean, efficient and tested code.  We are flexible in terms of technologies used but our preferred option would be:

Microsoft cloud

Asp.net MVC core

React

Semantic UI

Deliverable Timescale

A working beta version should be delivered in 12 weeks for testing with existing customers. Development should start in late March as soon as a supplier is chosen.

Indicative Budget (net)

£50,000

Note: The project will be divided into 4 stages to enable us to better manage the project and ensure it is delivered to spec. Four equal payments will therefore be made over the duration of the project.

Evaluation Criteria

Quotations will be assessed and scored on the following criteria:

Quality/ Technical Merit (60%)

Supplier must demonstrate they have the technical and professional capability to deliver the requirement. We are looking for a well-designed solution architecture and clean code. We’d prefer a proposal that prioritizes quality even if it means scaling back on features.

Delivery Timescale (25%)

Supplier must demonstrate they can deliver the requirement to timescales above.

Cost/Value for money (15%)

Does supplier offer value for money. This will not necessarily be the cheapest quote.

Scoring Methodology

4 Excellent

Proposal meets and in some places, exceeds the required standard

3 Good

Proposal meets required standard

2 Acceptable

Proposal meets the required standard in most respects, but is lacking or inconsistent in others

1 Poor

Proposal falls short of expected standard

0 Unacceptable

Completely or significantly fails to meet required standard or does not provide the relevant answer

Proposal Format

Proposals should clearly demonstrate how they meet the requirement set out above preferably including examples of relevant previous work.
